How Do I Join PHRF NW?
It's easy to join PHRF NW - start right here
1. Obtain Application and Rating Form (A/R Form) from your local Handicapper, Yacht Club, online or the PHRF-NW business office and fill in the requested data. Download the measuring diagram, and use if for your work sheet of for convenient reference.
2. Either attach a check for the annual Dues to your application, or pay online. To see current year dues amount go to Pay Dues.
3. Mail 3 copies of the completed A/R Form found on this site, with check, to your local Handicapper. If you can't locate him, mail all 3 copies to the business address, we will mail it to the Handicapper for you.
4. An owner officially becomes a member of PHRF-NW and his rating becomes fully valid when the dues are received and the forms have been properly completed by the member, by his local handicapper, AND have been forwarded on to the PHRF-NW Business Office for processing.
5. Incomplete forms, (including missing boat data), received by PHRF-NW or by its Handicappers shall be returned to the applicant for completion before a rating is issued.
6.* You may belong to PHRF-NW and be eligible for a PHRF-NW rating without also being a member of a Yacht Club.
7. * Membership to PHRF-NW is on an annual basis, done by paying the annual dues. Dues notices are mailed in November of each year. To be included in the annual roster publication, please be sure to pay by January 1st of the upcoming year.

Exchange of Old Boat for New Boat; or a Boat Newly Acquired
1. Properly complete a NEW A&R Form.
2. List sail number and name of old boat.
3. Send to your local Handicapper.
4. If you have paid dues for current year, don't pay again.
Annual Dues/ these are subject to change
1. New members $45.00 in US Funds. Canadian members may pay $45.00 US or $50.00 in Canadian funds if mailing. Note fees are different when paying online.
2. List sail number and name of previous PHRF NW boat.
3. For new members, Annual Dues need to accompany the A/R form.
4. For new members joining after November 15th, dues will be credited to the next season.
5. An annual PHRF-NW handicap rating applies and is valid for the boat described in a rating certificate that is owned or chartered by the member. If a member wants to race two or more boats during a year, a separate rating certificate and annual dues must be paid for each boat.
6. Effective January 1, 1996, all Handicappers, except those appointed for research or special projects, shall be members of PHRF-NW. PHRF-NW may grant honorary membership to non-member Handicappers who do not own a boat.
7. Associate Membership is available to sail makers and other interested fleets outside Area H. The annual dues for Associate membership is $60.00 US. Funds. Contact the office for information.
Boats Not Eligible for PHRF-NW
1. LOA less than 18 feet.
2. Centerboard monohulls with no ballast for self-righting.
1. All current paid members of PHRF-NW will be mailed a Certificate when dues for the year are paid.
2. This Certificate is to be kept on the boat at all times.
4. Changes to any information concerning a member's boat must be supplied to the local Handicapper.
a. Upon notification of any changes the local Handicapper will complete the necessary paperwork and forward it on to the Business Manager.
b. At such time the change information is received and processed, a replacement Certificate will be issued to the member.

The ratings are stated as Seconds Per Nautical Mile.
All Standard Boats in any class receive the same SP Rating.
SP Ratings of modified class boats will be adjusted faster or slower according to the nature of the modification. For the schedule of adjustments, please see your current handbook, Section II.
Codes are shown for each boat in the Roster and on the Supplements describing the Sails, Propulsion and any miscellaneous items on which the SP Rating is based. Please see the Roster (handbook) Section II for detailed descriptions of these Codes.
